Have you ever wondered if you can learn how to sing? It’s easier than you think if you just approach it with the right frame of mind.

I firmly believe and have for years that almost everybody has the ability to sing somewhere inside of them. The difficult part is drawing out your natural ability. Many people think “I can’t do that” but in fact they can and not only that, but could do it very well if they were to give themselves half a chance.

The biggest thing a person has to overcome when they’re learning how to sing is to be in control of their level of shyness. This could be roughly translated to ‘stagefright’. You see, most people at some level are afraid of looking silly when they try to sing. They’re afraid that they may not be hitting the correct notes or that they may be singing out of tune or whatever. They may be afraid that they’re being judged negatively by anyone that may be listening.

To that end I say that the first thing you have to do when learning to sing is to own it.

You literally have to drop all of your fears and inhibitions and just start doing it. Granted it may not be perfect the first few times around but what it will do is give you a fair playing field to base your judgements on. It’s simply not fair to say to yourself that you can’t sing that high, when the reality is that your simply not trying hard enough because you’re afraid of doing it wrong or having your note crack. You really have to own what you’re doing when you’re singing. Loud and proud is what I always say. Your inhibitions will actually inhibit your singing!

Also you need to recognize that even your singing idols have the ability to sound bad. When you listen to a song on the radio it’s produced to perfection. Singing in your living room doesn’t offer that luxury. So it’s a little unfair to compare yourself to your favorite song on the radio.

A few years ago there was a video circulating of Brittany Spears singing in her car and the general reactions to it (that I have read) were that she was terrible! Well, like her or not, we all know that she’s not terrible and is in fact very talented. When she’s doing what she’s good at she’s second to none in the entertainment industry and has the track record to prove it.

This brings me to my next point. When you’re learning how to sing it’s a wise move to find the type of music you sing best and start with that, expanding your repertoire as you learn. The funny thing about human nature is that we have a tendency to want do things we may not be naturally suited to, and completely ignore or simply not recognize what we are good at. When it comes to singing and music in general this seems to be especially true. For example, you may wish to sing country music but maybe are better at opera. (really?) It’s just an example.

The point is that there is some type of singing that will come to you more easily than other singing will. Experiment with different songs and be honest with yourself regarding your execution of that song. You’ll know because it will just feel right and be more effortless that another song may be.

When most people want to learn how to sing they immediately become concerned with range and the ability to sing high. It’s pretty hard to argue that this is not worth striving for but I will say this… Don’t let a super high range become your immediate concern when you’re learning. Yeah it’s cool to have a high range but it’s certainly not the end of the world if you don’t have it. There are tons of singers out there that do not have high ranges yet are awesome all the same. What it really should come down to is pitch and tuning. If you can hit all the high notes but are out of tune the rest of the time, well… You’re just not doing a good job of the song. Learn to sing in tune and work on getting the high notes and you’ll be fine.

High notes can be easier to achieve than you might think. The key is learning to relax and find an easy way to actually hit the note, and then find a way to work it into the song. I’ve always sort of felt that most of us can hit high notes. You need to experiment with different sounds for high notes. Can you imitate a siren for example? Maybe a dog whimpering? It sounds kind of silly but if you think about, those sounds are higher than what many singers have in their range, but most of us can do it and without even trying really. Learning to harness that power to use in a song is the trick to singing high.

It’s a weird concept for sure but I can tell you it’s helped me improve my range over the last year or so and I”ve proven it to myself that when you think about things a little differently, it can become easier to learn.

Do still wonder if you can learn how to sing? You can, you know. Be willing to change the way you think about learning and pay attention to the different sounds you can already naturally make and you’re on your way. Experiment with noises, make them louder and quieter and try to find the easiest way to do it. Soon you’ll be singing up a storm!

LeAnn’s 4th video. LeAnn is the original singer of this song not Trisha Yearwood. (read history below). Albums: You Light Up My Life: Inspirational Songs & Greatest Hits Writer: Diane Warren © 1997 Curb Records, Inc. History of How Do I Live: “How Do I Live” is a 1997 song, written by Diane Warren, that was released originally by LeAnn Rimes, and shortly afterward by Trisha Yearwood. The song was originally intended for release as a single for the 1997 action blockbuster Con Air soundtrack. Warren wrote the song for Rimes to sing. The producers felt that Rimes’s version had too much of a pop feeling to it, and requested that she re-record it to fit their standards. She refused, and the producers chose Trisha Yearwood to record the song. Her more country-style version was released on May 27, 1997 and appeared in the film. When Rimes heard of the release, she quickly released her version. Despite only peaking as high as number seven in the UK Singles Chart, LeAnn Rimes’ version of How Do I Live spent thirty-four weeks in the chart. It set a record for staying on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for sixty-nine weeks. The song entered the Top 25 US Country singles chart on June 21, 1997 and was still there in February 2003, a record 291 weeks (five and half years) later. How Do I Live was covered by FIR (Faye and Real featuring LeAnn Rimes). FIR invited Rimes to record a portion of the song for their third album Flight Tribe in 2006. The song has also been performed on the hit …

There are many software companies offering tips and kits on how to sing better. One can make a choice from any of the software offered in the market. Almost every software company offers more or less the same tips and the same kit. The rest is in your hand to make use of these kits and get noticed.

One of these software companies can be Canta. With Canta software you just have to choose a song and load the corresponding midi file into it. In seconds Canta plays the music showing the notes and the melody that you need to use to sing. This is just wonderful isn’t it? What else could be a better way than this to learn to sing?

Canta even has the ability to measure the frequency of your voice and show it as a curve on the screen that you will watch and make the necessary changes and get the right tune. Oh how wonderful this could be, there is no strain at all.

If these lessons are repeated frequently you will definitely find the right pitch of your voice and learn to sing better and also learn to sing in tune.

With Canta software you can do so much like record your voice into a wave file, your voice can be displayed in hertz and in notes A,B,C…, you can have a preview of the melody notes that are coming next.

It also has an automatic zoom to see all the notes at one time on the screen.

The Midi player and display of the melody on the same graph is possible with horizontal and vertical zoom. It also has a microphone level control to check the voice while you sing.

What more can you ask for in the software to help you learn to sing better? You have the entire accompaniment that is required and even more. After this it is purely on your side to put it all together and sing like a professional.

Whether you want to sing in your rest room at home or in a church choir or with a band or just alone like a professional, it doesn’t matter at all. No one would like to be dumb when they hear good music. It naturally gives you the feeling and the wanting to sing and be noticed and applauded.

So if you really need all that applause and recognition, go singing software shopping or if you are pressed for time and have no idea what to get, just go in for the Canta software and start your singing classes right away, be that nightingale after all.

I have tried and tested almost every karaoke system available on the market today.

Article by Amitosh Kumar

Being a singer and musician with almost thirty years of musical experience, I am often asked by inhabit I experience, “how can I sing better?” Most of the instance inhabit who ask this question are not certified or even semi-professional singers, but everyday persons who very soon benefit from singing and would like to know I beg your pardon? They can make sure of to recover their singing voice. So, aside from taking coaching or a prescribed course of action of study, how can you sing better? There is individual very basic machine you can make sure of to facilitate is likely to significantly recover the quality your singing: To facilitate is to LP your voice, and at that moment listen in back to the recording.

Why to LP your voice

We you sing, you’re not very soon in concert an instrument, you are the instrument. The resonator in lieu of the sound you bake isn’t the inside of a ensnare drum, or the body of a guitar, or the inside of a tuba – it’s your authentic body. This agency to facilitate the sound you hear after you sing will be atypical to I beg your pardon? Others hear, simply since you are your own amplifier. How many period bear you heard your speaking voice on a recorded message or on a tape and theory, “do I really sound like to facilitate?” You’re trial physically the way others hear you. Being a singer, listening to a recording of physically singing is the principal step in really trial your own singing voice, and at that moment identifying how you can sing better. You will moreover hear physically better by listening to a recording since you’re actively paying attention on listening. When you are in reality engaged in singing, your brain is responsibility about serious multitasking. You might be responsibility some or all of the following things at the same time:

Recitation lyrics and a melody from sheet song, or recalling them from your recollectionModulating your pitch and thinking on the order of beatTuning in to patronage song you’re singing toPreparing in lieu of scale changesPaying attention to the terminology and interpreting a song’s implicationExperimenting with dynamics (changes in volume)Brooding what’s in the fridge in lieu of feastBy taking all this particularly stuff absent of the equation and very soon listening, you’ll be able to hear things on the order of your singing voice to facilitate you’ve probably on no account even noticed sooner than.

How to LP your voice

Don’t be plant rotten the purpose of recording your own voice since you think it will be technically obstinate. If you bear an old cartridge recorded or a dictaphone at that moment you might very soon famine to go off analogue and dig them absent. Ideally though, if you bear access to a CPU, you must habit a basic song recording software series to LP your voice.

Article by Tom W. Gauger

Sing Jingles?By Tom Gauger

As a former William Morris agent, booking some of the biggest stars in country music, and as a session singer singing many commercials like Fox TV, UPN ID spots, O’Charleys and many others, I am well acquainted with the jingle market, the ups and downs, and the difficulty of entering the commercial singing world. For those of you new and those vaguely familiar with this market with a keen interest in this segment of the industry, let me assure you that (1) with the right talent you can succeed, and (2) in order to succeed you will need some pre-determined areas of strengths including, but not limited to a unique voice, a go get it drive, and a great attitude that says I can work with virtually anyone, with an easy going temperament, without copping an “attitude.” I will give you a brief overview and some helpful starting tips, hopefully steering you in a direction for greatest success. For more information, you may visit http://www.reelmusician.com, a great source for singers who need a unique individual jingle demo reel to present to jingle and advertising houses and those who would like an overview of the jingle singing market. A Free “Jingle Singer’s Guide” is also available by visiting this website.

To begin with, a great voice is described in many ways, but let there be no mistake about it – Your voice must be credible and unique and/or be an incredible blender voice that melts in with any group of singers on any given session. Vocal coaching for jingle singers is somewhat different than with traditional vocal coaches. Mainly because the end product has to not only catch the vibe of the given spot, but each and every word counts – Funny how those advertising executives like to hear each word of their products. Those trying to enter the country or pop fields as an artist, usually have a harder time with singing commercials, because the slightly lazy diction in a song demo, while possibly viewed as the greatest thing since sliced bread to a record or production company, doesn’t fly in a commercial. A professional vocal coach working with singers interested in singing jingles also must teach a singer to sing wrong, right – You read correctly. To sing a commercial with incredible intensity and with a gritty voice, is hard on the vocal cords. In a sense you are singing on the top of your vocal cords and one can burn out and do damage to their vocal cords if proper instruction is not obtained. Unfortunately, many vocal instructors out there have either a traditional vocal background teaching methods that really aren’t up to par with the dynamics of the jingle singer’s needs, or don’t fully understand jingle singing in general, in order to truly coach a singer effectively in this market. Find a qualified vocal coach!

Attitude is everything you’ve probably heard. This holds true for the singer entering the jingle singing market as well. Jingle houses, other singers, and advertising agencies alike don’t put up with the “artsy fartsy” know it alls. You have to get in there with a great attitude and get the job done. This amongst other things will maintain a full singing calendar when you get rolling. A great attitude often times will cover a session where vocally you might not have been totally up to par, but you’re well liked, easy to deal with and deliver the singing goods. Don’t under estimate a great attitude. Individuals who are not your direct competition usually don’t mind, and in fact like to help individuals succeed who they know won’t embarrass them and who have the talent with a great attitude.

The next item a jingle singer, entering the market, must have is a great sounding jingle demo reel. As already stated, if you are unsure as to where to obtain a great sounding jingle demo reel, visit http://www.reelmusician.com. A jingle demo reel, for those just entering the market, should contain 5 – 7 jingles with varying styles showing a mastery and unique vocal compilation. While most commercials bend towards a pop contemporary feel, your demo reel needs to be designed and produced in such a way that your voice stands out and is unique, even if you never sing these styles again. It’s the work you’re after, not necessarily if your styles are ever used on your demo. You will want to include styles that stretch who you are while maintaining musical integrity. Some include a song demo that emphasizes a particular style that they want to capitalize on. Don’t be afraid to go for “off the wall” vocal styles. You will want to practice in your car, in the shower, wherever practical, before you put down your final vocal tracks. A closet with your vocal bouncing off the wall back is a great place to practice. If you can record your voice, with a vocal coach or on your own onto a cassette, into the computer, or any recording device for playback evaluation is great. Oftentimes, you will hear that you sound too “ricky ticky” or don’t have enough energy with adequate pronunciation – Better to learn this now before going into the studio and spending hard earned dollars practicing there while you’re actually trying to lay down your master vocal track.

After producing your jingle demo reel you will have to start pitching this to jingle houses, other jingle singers, and any other potential individuals or companies who might take a liking to your reel. Look at production companies who write production music for corporations, book publishers who maintain a roster of authors needing vocals on their children’s books, etc, and various music production houses. It’s generally frowned upon to send your reel to advertising agencies directly, but if you have an in with one, why not drop off a reel. In today’s information age, you might email an MP3 or.WAV file, but obviously, dropping off the reel in person is always the best route to take. Include an insert or CD label with names of jingles, length and styles of each jingle and of course a telephone number and email address. You will want to keep a database as to who, when, where, and misc contact info when pitching your jingle reel. Keep a detailed record with subsequent conversations and comments. Some will consider a second jingle reel to pitch and move across the desk in an effort to rekindle any interest and include styles they have developed further.
If you want to make the most of your voice and have an even sound and tone from the top of your range all the way down to your lower notes then these daily exercises will help you achieve this goal.

Keep a look out for my other articles on how to prepare for singing and breathing exercises which will follow and try them before doing the sets below.

Steps
1) Say “le” and “la” out loud and try to use an Italian accent (say “le” instead of “lay-ee” and “la” rather than “la-uh”
2) Join the vowels “a” and “e” together with the “L” in a curving arc type sound flicking your tongue quickly making the “L” sound as short as possible.
3) Do this exercise for a few minutes
4) Say with an Italian accent vowels a, e, i, o, u, prefixed with the lip consonant “m”
5) Pronounce these vowels in sounds in the following way: “ma” for the “a” vowel as in the name Arthur.

“me” as in the “e” in wheel. “Mi” as in machine. “mo” as in the “o” in more and “mu” as in the word “tool”
6) In order to produce the correct sound required for the “m” sound, spring open your lips and this will help pronounce the sound and project the note out
7) Ensure throughout the exercise maintain a good focus on good quality consistent breathing

Extra Tips
In singing Italian vowels are almost always used in singing so it is important in learning and practising this way of letter pronunciation.

Also by improving your pronunciation of the following consonants (L, M, P, T, D, F, G, N, S, V, Z) this will work towards good exercising for your tongue. For example, as opposed to using the whole length of your tongue to produce the sound “L” practice just using the tip of your tongue curled backwards. It actually makes it easier to say in fact.

Steps
1) If you take the melody of a song that is familiar to you can replace the lyrics with the Italian vowels from the above exercise for a good workout and practice.
2) The method is called vocalizing and to illustrate look at the following example: Somewhere over the rainbow / Way up high / There’s a land that I heard of / Once in a lullaby / Somewhere over the rainbow / Skies are blue / And the dreams that you dare to dream / Really do come true.
3) Using a steady flow of breath use should vocalize this example focusing on the “la” and “ma” sounds
4) Memorize all the lyrics to the song you have been practising with the Italian vowels then sing the actual song with the lyrics.
5) Instead of looking at the written lyrics try looking outwards and sing as if you are looking at an audience watching you perform.

Final Tip
When you listen to your favourite songs try not to copy the voice of the singer but rather see it as your own version of the song when you sing it. It may be fun to copy your favourite pop star but if you mean to do singing as a profession it best to do it your way in order to not damage the vocal system and also help bring out your own potential.

Article by Steve Jones

There are several different ways you can sing. No matter what type of song you are going to sing, the basic principles stay the same. When it comes to singing, there are several different style voices. For females there are Soprano, Mezzo-soprano, and Contralto. For males they are Countertenor, Tenor, Baritone, and Bass. Even though they all sound different, they all would be trained about the same.

Just like every other musician that practices playing his or her instrument, a voice have to be treated the same. You can look at the voice as being an instrument inside the body. So when you start training your voice, you should begin with determining your voice type and then build your training around it.Here are a few basic principles that you can apply to any voice type.

You should do breathing exercises. Make sure that when you breathe, you don’t lift your shoulders. If your shoulders lift, there is a tightening of the muscles which will restrict your breathing.

Do vocal exercises every day. The vocal cords are muscles which will improve with training and will become stronger with daily practice.

It is important to warm up your voice before you begin to sing, and then when you are finished singing to have a cool down period.

Make sure the singing material you are using is appropriate for your voice type. If it is the wrong material, it will put too much pressure on your voice.

When you breathing in, extend your upper body so that you can take in more air which will help with any type of singing.

Always drink enough water. Water will hydrate your vocal cords and is crucial for vocal health.

By following these points and practising every day, you will learn how to sing well. It is recommended that you work with a vocal coach or trainer. This will help you because you don’t really hear yourself when singing and a coach can give you great feedback.

To be able to master singing, you have to learn the song first of all. In learning a song, what you will need at your disposal is a recording device. An approach is detailed, which is the only method used to teach students how to sing songs.

1. You have to record first the melody of a song without accompaniment, then repeat but now with the complete piano part. Play the unaccompanied melody once and then follow along with the music. This seems to be a slow process for advanced singers but is important in finding out how to sing songs right.

2. Next is to play the melody with the accompaniment and then recognize the style. At this point, you are able to develop your style as well as your understanding of the piece through considering what the music and the text mean.

3. The next step is singing along with the use of the “la” syllable and marking on the piece of the music pitches and notes all through the piece.

Repeat this step many times so that the sung pitches and rhythms are precisely the same as those on the piano.

4. As you have learned the pitches and rhythms, try whispering in the rhythms as you play the melody. It is necessary to follow the steps before this step since learning a song in this order is the best way to make your singing sound beautiful and to discover how to sing songs.

5. The last step you need to do is to memorize the text and music and look at the vocal techniques and learn how these can be transferred to the songs you’re learning. It is advisable to make a checklist for the techniques you have transferred to the songs (the checklist can be an imaginary in your head or can be written down). The checklist should include the things like the correct posture and breathing.

After learning singing songs, you can now learn how to sing on key. Singing on key is an important skill, which many people lack.

One thing you need to obtain if you wish to learn how to sing on key is your ability of learning and improving. On singing on key, you must listen and need to ensure that you analyze what you listen to. If you do not this, you will only struggle with holding a tune.

To sing on key, it is very important that you practice some of the scale exercises, which will help to improve your singing tone. An exercise that will help you to learn on how to sing on key is to play a note on the piano and then sing a scale, a full scale that is composed of eight ascending notes in same pattern.

For those who do not have an access to a piano or any musical instrument and you really want to sing on key, you can sing a scale unaccompanied. But remember that in this case the listening skills are very much important.

So you always wanted to learn how to sing harmony? Here area few tips which will get you started on how to sing harmony. If you thought that singing was difficult wait till you start harmonizing. Since it involves synchronizing your voice with another singer you will have to work really hard to sound right. Also you cannot push mistakes made while harmonizing under the carpet because they are glaringly obvious. So try these exercises to learn to harmonize correctly.

Even though learning to harmonize is fairly difficult it is one of the most rewarding things that you can Mater. Harmonizing your voice with that of another singer will render a rich quality to your sound. It will require a lot of patience and hard work since harmonizing involves blending different notes sung by different people. So the first step is to train your ear to recognize harmony.

You cal do so by carefully listening to a song of your choice. Listen carefully to the melody and the instruments

Try to listen for instruments that are being played in harmony with the melody. This will take some practice since instruments which are playing in harmony will blend effortlessly with the melody while the other instruments will sound more conspicuous.

Once you learn to recognize the harmony try it yourself by trying to match your voice with the instrument at the correct octave. Now this is where things may start getting a little difficult. So take the help o a musical instrument like a piano.

Start by playing any note on the piano and try to sing in harmony with it. You don’t have to be in perfect harmony at the first attempt. What you are trying to do here is learn about the different notes that work as a harmony.

Continue practicing with another note. Make sure that you are recording yourself. After a few attempts, listen to the recordings. This will help you to understand to how to sing harmony by picking a good note to harmonize with and singing in pitch with it.

This exercise will also help you to understand the moods created by the different harmonies.

Now go back to your favorite song and pick out a few notes of melody that you want to harmonize with and try singing notes that are three notes higher or lower than the melody simply try sliding up and down three notes to find the harmony and the different moods that the different combinations bring out.

Finally practice with another singer and record yourself to check your progress.

Singing harmony with another talented singer can be a very rewarding and fulfilling experience albeit one that will take diligent practice and hard work.

If one wants to learn singing fast, then one should ultimately consider using some sort of Singing Software. The software will help one in learning the basics of proper singing and also helps one in voice training which is the most important factor that is to be considered for singing.

I have tried and tested almost every karaoke system available on the market today. I have found one that will save you hundreds of dollars as it lets you convert the music you already own into a fully fledged karaoke track. After all why would you want to pay again for the songs you already own? From my research I have also found a partnership program that has the cheapest legal music on the planet…
